BACHELOR OF COMMERCE [GENERAL] (BCOMG)

The University offers Bachelor of Commerce Degree with the following Structure:
Objective of B. Com Programme:
• The main objective of the programme is to inculcate knowledge, skills and attitude amongst the learners to meet
the challenges of various dimensions of business and commerce.
• The programme focuses on the development of skills in the commerce domain areas and facilitates the employ
ability as well as self-employ ability of the learners.
• The programme aims at providing commerce education to the large number of learners located at different parts
of the country including the far-flung areas and selected abroad centres. Commerce education is provided to the
masses as well as the disadvantagedandmarginal groups of the society.
• The multimedia and interactive teaching-learning system provides opportunity to acquire education at the door
step, flexible time and space of the learner. Accessibility and flexibility are very important features of the
programme which provide opportunity to large number of heterogeneous groups to acquire education through
open and distance mode.
• The programme aims at the development of analytical skills, financial and accounting skills as well as managerial
skills.
Eligibility: 10+2 or its equivalent
Medium of Instruction: English & Hindi
The University follows the credit system for offering all its programmes. One credit is equal to 30 hours of learners
study time. To earn Bachelor’s Degree, a learner has to earn 132 credits in minimum six semesters (three years)
with 22 credits per semester or 44 credits per year. For earning 132 credits, a student has to study all the courses from the
following categories of courses:-
a) Core Courses (CC) and Modern Indian Languages (MIL) - 6 Credit
b) Discipline Specific Electives (DSE) - 6 credit
c) Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC) - 4 credit
d) Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) - 4 credit
e) Generic Electives (GE) - 6 credit
In each Semester, the students have to study 4 courses in all from different categories of courses. While the courses
under CC, DSE and GE Categories are of 6 credits each, the courses under AEC and SEC are of 4 credits each. The study
loain each semester will come out to 22 credits.

Above course have total 24 subject. In each year 8 subject and per semester 4 subject in following guidelines in above mentioned.

EVALUATION :- The evaluation consists of two parts: i) continuous evaluation through assignments, and ii) term
end examination. In the final result, all the assignments of a course carry 30% weightage while 70% weightage is given for the Term End Examination (TEE). University follows a grading system for continuous evaluation as well as term-end examination. It is done on a ten point scale using the letter grades as given below: The University has decided to provide numerical marking also in the grade card and award of division for the Bachelor of Commerce Degree.
1. Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA): Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) will be evaluated by the Academic Counsellors appointed for different courses at the Study Centre. Assignments constitute the continuous evaluation. The marks that you secure in the assignments will be counted in your final result. As mentioned earlier, an assignment of a course carries 30% weightage. You are therefore, advised to take your assignment seriously. A simple omission on your part may put you in great inconvenience later.
2. Term End Examination (TEE) :-As stated earlier, the term-end examination is the major component of the evaluation system and it carries 70% weightage in the final result. You must fill the Term End Examination form online http://exam.ignou.ac.in before the last
dates i.e. 31st March for June exam and 30th September for December exam.
